T.H.I.S have been successfully installing trace heating for car park and pedestrian ramps in the South East for when the inevitable happens – winter arrives. This year has seen a significant number of ramps and access stairways being trace heated, ensuring safety for the users. Recent projects include: Woburn Abbey (pedestrian access), Sainsbury’s in Hoddesdon and residential developments in SE London and Horsham, West Sussex.
This type of protection is not just limited to vehicle ramps but can be used for disabled access ramps, external escape staircases and walkways and roof top inspection platforms. Control is fully automated; using a combination of low temperature and moisture presence to activate the heating to ensure economic operating costs
The benefits should not only be seen in terms of emergency use but also the more general day-to-day use. In short, if a structure is susceptible to ice but needs to be kept operational then trace heating is an economical method of ensuring this.
